About Safe-Structures

Safe-Structures specializes in structural strength calculations and fatigue analysis by means of the Finite Element Method.

In addition, Safe Structures can assist potential clients on new structural designs or modifications of ship structures, topsides and operational systems, following all relevant industrial standards.

The company consists of mechanical engineers who have experience in ship building, offshore structures and Oil & Gas production plant designs.

In addition, Safe-Structures is able to perform Pipe Stress Analysis, Detail Engineering – 3D Modeling and produce 2D drawings.

Charis Ntontoros
Structural-Naval-Maritime Engineer/FEM Specialist | MEng Mechanical

Charis has been involved in state-of-the-art shipbuilding projects for various vessel types.

His specialty sector is Structural Engineering and FEM analysis. He is performing strength calculations by means of Finite Element Method (FEM) and hand calculations, following the ship and offshore rules and regulations provided by the classification societies.

Apart from shipbuilding, he has delivered pipe stress analyzes and steel strength calculations for chemical plants.

He has spent significant time on structural strength calculations during the past projects and he has developed the ability to have the overview of the ongoing project and assist with technical solutions as lead engineer.

His academic education varies in the different fields of engineering from mechanics to core structural and aerodynamic analysis. His thesis, based on aerodynamic experiments, has been published to international symposiums.

Theodoros Machairas
PhD Mechanical Engineer l | FEM Analyst / Research Engineer

Theodoros holds a PhD in Mechanical Engineering with a specialization in structural mechanics and material technology. Over the past ten years he has been involved in numerous academic-research projects in the aerospace and wind energy sector. His area of expertise is the finite element analysis and the design of composite and shape adaptive structures, using smart actuators. During his academic career, he has prepared and conducted laboratory experiments for the characterization of shape memory alloys properties and morphing structures’ response. His work has been published in over 15 articles presented in international conferences and journals.

Also, he has been involved in research projects as project manager.

Apart from his academic career, he has participated in projects in the industry sector. He has performed pipe stress calculations for pipe systems and pressure vessels which are installed on chemical production plants.

In addition, he has delivered strength calculations including welding and bolting calculations for steel structure supports, in accordance to the regulations of international industrial standards.

Christoforos Mitkakis
Structural Detail Engineer | BEng Civil

Christoforos has broad experience on steel structure detail design.

His specialty sector is Structural Detail design, 3D Modeling and 2D Workshop Drawing production.

Apart from detail design and drawing execution, Christoforos has extensive experience in onsite supervision of the ongoing projects and he is capable of providing smart technical and practical solutions. During his onsite experience he has supervised large scale and demanding civil projects.

His academic background is civil engineering.

Filippos Anagnostidis
Structural - Systems Design Engineer / FEM Specialist | PDeng Mechanical

Filippos possesses a diploma in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Patras in Greece.
Also, he holds a “Professional Doctorate in Engineering (PDeng)”, in the Design and Technology of Instrumentation (DTI), from the technical university of Eindhoven (TU/e), in the Netherlands.

Over the past ten years he has been involved in many projects in the RnD departments of various companies. He has taken part in the design, analysis and testing of innovative products and mechanical systems, as well as he has conducted experimental setups.

His core expertise is systems design, 3D modelling – CAD, drafting, structural analysis and structural optimization by means of FEM.

During his recent professional carrier, he has been involved in projects financed by the European Space Agency (ESA).
He has designed mechanisms such as deployable systems, mechanical ground support equipment (MGSE), he has executed experimental setups and he has developed operational procedures.
One of the projects he has been part of is the design and construction of a modular, scalable, ultra stable and deployable/stowable truss system that will assist ESA in their future space missions.
